Common Local Assistance Numbers*

*Please note: not all numbers may be set up for use in California!

  • 911 – EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER NUMBER; do not call except in cases of emergency! For non-emergency situations, call your local dispatch numbers or 311
  • 811 – Some companies use it for billing, some for service/repair calls, but it may not be active on your carrier
  • 711 – Deaf / HOH TTY telecommunications relay
  • 611 – Service/repair calls (PacBell and Verizon, may also work for other companies)
  • 511 – Traffic/transportation information
  • 411 – Directory Assistance
  • 311 – NON-EMERGENCY police and governmental services (i.e. non-injury car accidents)
  • 211 – Community and referral services (such as homeless shelter listings, community outreach programs, etc.)
  • 011 – International calling; dial this before entering the country code and phone number you’re trying to reach
